“I would say the biggest issue is” – Norwich City problem raised that Johannes Hoff Thorup must tackle

This season, Norwich City has been a little erratic.

After former manager David Wagner was fired, the Canaries embarked on a new chapter in the summer when talented Danish manager Johannes Hoff Thorup took over as manager.

It would not come as a huge surprise that Norwich is having trouble producing regular results given that Thorup is still in the early stages of his management career and has never managed in England before to this year.

The Canaries have only won four of their first 15 league games, drawn six, and lost five, placing them in 14th place in the Championship right now.

Throup’s team is now going through a difficult time; they have lost their previous three league games and are now six games without a victory.

If Norwich is to meet its preseason objective of qualifying for the playoffs, things must alter quite quickly. Although Borja Sainz, a winger, has been outstanding so far this season—scoring 11 goals and dishing out two assists in 15 Championship games—the Canaries cannot depend entirely on him to win.

They have the players to compete in the second division even if they lost several important players in the summer, but they are now dealing with a bit of an injury crisis. But it’s clear that their squad depth is inadequate.

A Norwich City supporter points out the team’s depth issue.

Zeke Downes, a Norwich City supporter, was asked by Football League World this week to list the team’s current top problem, and this is what he had to say.

“The squad’s depth and current readiness are perhaps the main problems, aside from the evident injury crisis. The players we brought in are all quite young, lack experience, and most likely didn’t anticipate starting the games they are now playing.”

“Due to the injuries, they’ve had to be forced in, like Schwartau, Forson and even Crnac, but he cost a lot of money, so that might be a different situation.”

“I would say depth is an issue, because we’ve lost our whole midfield and it’s a massive drop-off to the next lot of midfielders that we have, so we definitely need to get our midfielders back ASAP.”

Norwich is already anticipating January.

Even though it’s only November, Norwich may view this as a plus because the January transfer window will arrive sooner than anticipated.

It is obvious that they need to bolster their present roster, particularly if they keep getting hurt. Among the players on Carrow Road’s lengthy injured list are Marcelino Nunez, Onel Hernandez, Liam Gibbs, Ashley Barnes, and Josh Sargent. Thorup will be hoping that this list becomes shorter very soon.

If these injuries continue, the team will need to concentrate on two positions in January: the striker and the centre midfield positions. Despite not being conventional strikers, Oscar Schwartau, Ante Crnac, and Emiliano Marcondes have all played up front in the last three games, thus this needs to be solved.

Tamas Nikitscher, a Hungarian midfielder, has been linked to Norwich recently for the centre midfield position. While he would be a good addition, the Canaries need some Championship experience in their roster.

The team must make good use of January because, as Zeke points out, their injury issue and lack of squad depth force young, inexperienced players to play.
