Rangers could land Bosman bargain for £3.5m winger they were at ‘advanced stages’ to sign

As Philippe Clement sought to make amends for the previous summer’s missteps, Rangers were certain to recruit a right winger in the summer.

It appeared that Southampton’s Samuel Edozie would be acquired on deadline day when Scott Wright was transferred to Birmingham City, but as the clock ticked away, the Light Blues pulled out.

Although Morgan Whittaker is becoming more and more costly every day and Yusuf Kabadayi has barely played a game in the Bundesliga, there is encouraging news if Rangers wish to re-enter the market for Adama Traore.

Adama Traore Bosman might return to the Rangers.

Despite a move to Rangers that was reportedly at a “advanced stage” at one point, the 29-year-old flier finished the transfer window with seven goals and two assists in 22 appearances for Ferencvaros.

With Traore’s contract expiring at the conclusion of the 2025 season and the Mali international free to negotiate a pre-contract pact in January, it may have been a stopgap move to bring Vaclav Cerny to Ibrox.

Quoted at £3.5 million in the summer, that amount will be much lower now, and Nils Koppen may make a comeback with a lowball offer to bring the speedster in early and give Clement more help.

Could Traore be purchased by Rangers?

Even with the largest pay bill in Hungary, which is approximately £14 million, Rangers’ current budget is still four and a half times larger, albeit this amount is being steadily reduced.

This suggests that Traore will be reasonably priced.

For comparison, it is generally believed that Rabbi Matondo earns about £23,000 a week, or more than £1.1 million annually.

It would be shocking if Rangers’ management weren’t attempting to move the Wales international on, considering his availability.

The Gers could improve by adding Traore, and they might even have a winger who is available every week and who can make an impact.

The manager needs all the assistance he can get, after all.
