Alistair Johnston tells Canadian audience how big Celtic are with ‘one of the most famous’ claim

In addition to being a vital member of Celtic, Alistair Johnston is also one of the team’s most well-liked players by the fans.

The Ange Postecoglou era at Celtic was one of happiness and great success, as has been said numerous times.

The club’s recruitment strategy, which is currently proving its value under Brendan Rodgers, the all-action style of play, and the numerous titles are all examples.

One of the players that Postecoglou signed was Johnston, who has now established himself as a consistent right-back starter.

The 26-year-old had not won a trophy in his career before entering Parkhead, having moved to Glasgow from MLS team CF Montreal in 2022.

In the present, however, Johnston has won five titles while wearing Celtic colours, including the double when Rodgers returned last season.

Celtic have improved this season, going undefeated in the Premiership, leading the table, and dominating the Champions League.

Johnston quickly realised how huge Celtic was, and while playing for his country, he grew the team.

If you don’t win at Celtic, you’d like to finish last. Even if you had won every trophy conceivable the previous season, it’s that easy.

For this reason, Celtic is a major force in Europe and the largest club in Scotland.

Johnston told Canadian TV OneSoccer that the club has “lofty expectations” and that they are “one of the most famous” and a “massive brand” worldwide.

“As you and everyone else know, Celtic is a huge, global brand, and we have high expectations,” Johnston stated.

“With this new Champions League format, we have put ourselves in a really good position to be able to do that on the European stage, especially with the last couple of results we have had.”

On donning the Celtic armband, Johnston

Johnston received the armband when Callum McGregor was substituted out of Celtic’s victory over Motherwell in October, and he celebrated in the most spectacular manner imaginable.

He had previously only scored four goals while wearing the green and white uniform, but he went on to score at Fir Park and against Dundee the following week.

No one in that Celtic locker room was more deserving of wearing the armband, and Johnston demonstrated his understanding of it with his remarks.

He will undoubtedly lead Celtic out more in the future based on the way he speaks.

Johnston said, “I’ve been fortunate enough to wear the armband now.” “I believe it was one of those occasions where I was aware of the magnitude of the opportunity and the honour it is.”

This is among the world’s most renowned and illustrious football teams. I find it hard to believe that so many captains have hailed from countries other than Scotland and Ireland.

Therefore, it was a rather unique experience to see a fullback who was born in Canada don the armband, even if it was just for a single game. My family was proud of it. I will always treasure the fact that I made many folks back home proud.
