This season, Rangers have had trouble scoring goals, and Philippe Clement has had to rely on Cyriel Dessers.
With Hamza Igamane appearing to have the potential to be a long-term contributor to the team, Danilo has resumed full training and is getting fitter.
However, the management still requires more depth, and as Hearts’ contract with Lawrence Shankland draws to a close, the capital team is beginning to concede defeat in their attempt to retain the captain.
Hearts are thinking in replacing Rangers-affiliated Lawrence Shankland.
The Scottish Sun claims that Hearts plans to sign a new striker in January, once the Scotland international is free to talk to other teams.
Shankland, on a Bosman, would still be a valuable addition to Rangers even though he only scored one goal in 18 games.
His desire to play at Ibrox might be the driving force behind his goal-scoring comeback.
Shankland would also give Igamane more time to adjust so he wouldn’t have to be the primary backup.
Shankland is backed by Steven Naismith to succeed.
Speaking on BBC Scotland’s Off the Ball, the man who managed Shankland at the start of the season has supported him to succeed:
“What he’s accomplished over the past two seasons is amazing in and of itself,” Naismith remarked.
We were affected since he served as our lucky charm. Right now, everything that could work against him is.
It was always going to be a tremendous task if you kept up that level and pace. Players experience that.
Knowing him and talking to him has taught me that he won’t dwell on it. He’ll return. After he scores one, he will simply begin to score again. If one were to go in off his shin and then return, I wouldn’t be shocked. It frequently occurs with goal scorers.
