The Scottish Sun claims that Malcolm Offord has emerged as the “leading contender” to take over as Rangers’ new chairman.
On November 23, the newspaper stated on its website that the 60-year-old is prepared to take John Bennett’s position as the Light Blues’ long-term manager.
Additionally, Offord is already engaged in negotiations to appoint a new CEO, which is another significant position that has been unfilled since James Bisgrove’s departure.
Ready to take over as Rangers chairman is Malcolm Offord.
In recent months, Ibrox has been shrouded in uncertainty due to the absence of a permanent chairman and CEO.
There is little to be expected from a temporary solution, even though John Gilligan rejoined the club as an acting chairman after Bennett was forced to resign owing to health issues.
Thus, it is really encouraging to learn that Offord may be the next permanent chairman of the Gers.
It’s possible that the Glasgow giants may have a new chairman in time for their annual meeting on December 5th, as Chris Jack stated on November 13th.
Although Offord’s position has not yet been made public, fans will be happy to learn that he is actively participating in behind-the-scenes decisions. There are rumours that a CEO appointment is “weeks away.”
Notably, the industrialist, who was born in Greenock, is a member of the House of Lords and is known as Lord Offord of Garvel.
He would be an intriguing addition to Rangers due to his business and political acumen, but it is unclear how he will perform once the appointment is formalised.
