Rangers boardroom risk fan fury if Celtic win transfer race for ‘special’ talent

Rangers sometimes receive criticism for the widening “gap” that exists between them and their Old Firm rivals, Celtic, both on and off the game.

Given that Philippe Clement has only been able to work with scraps while the Hoops are able to spend millions of dollars every transfer window, it does not take a genius to figure out the stark disparity in wealth.

In addition to making Mohamed Diomande’s transfer permanent, the Gers spent well under £15 million for Nedim Bajrami, Robin Propper, Hamza Igamane, and Jefte, yet Celtic supporters only scoff.

For a total of £20.5 million, Brendan Rodgers’ team acquired Adam Idah from Norwich City [BBC Sport] and Arne Engels from Augsburg [Sky Sports], with money still left over for several more players.

Naturally, it is evident that Celtic’s player-trading strategy is far more effective than the Light Blues’ after selling Matthew O’Riley to Brighton of the Premier League for £25 million [BBC Sport].

Rangers must sign Lennon Miller before Celtic.

Despite this, the Gers need to make sure they sign Motherwell star Lennon Miller before their Old Firm rivals do, as both teams will be vying for the midfield player in January [TBF Football].

Because of the aforementioned reasons, some fans already anticipate that the 18-year-old will reject a move to Ibrox in preference of Celtic Park, but if this does occur, supporters will undoubtedly be incensed.

With 56 games since making his senior debut in 2022, the midfielder—dubbed “special” by Motherwell teammate Liam Gordon [Daily Record]—has established himself as a key player at Fir Park.

As the young player continues to establish himself in the Scottish Premiership, commentators and supporters are running out of praise for him. He has the potential to be a fantastic addition to Clement’s team.

Just before the January transfer window begins, Patrick Stewart will start his job at Ibrox next month, most likely with a new chairman. If Celtic choose to sign Miller instead, he may already irritate the supporters.
