Few footballers can boast a career hat-trick of goals as impressive as this, but Rangers’ £1.7 million summer signing Hamza Igamane has delivered three Goal of the Season-worthy strikes in just over two weeks.
What sets Igamane’s stunning goals apart is their diversity. Each finish—against Nice, Kilmarnock, and Ross County—was unique in both execution and style. Against Nice in the Europa League, he nutmegged Pablo Rosario before slotting the ball into the far corner, evoking shades of Luis Suarez’s famous strike against Paris Saint-Germain.
During Rangers’ 6-0 demolition of Kilmarnock, Igamane, already denied a sensational backheel, unleashed a ferocious drive into the bottom corner. Then, in the 3-0 triumph over Ross County, he scored a viciously swerving and dipping shot that seemed too extraordinary to be untouched—yet replays confirmed it was pure Igamane brilliance. This strike carried echoes of Papiss Cisse’s unforgettable goal against Chelsea.
Hamza Igamane’s electrifying form hasn’t gone unnoticed. Former Rangers midfielder Derek Ferguson described him as “a real breath of fresh air,” praising his confidence and lethal finishing. “He’s been nothing short of brilliant,” Ferguson told BBC Sport. “He’s unpredictable, much like my former teammate Ted McMinn.”
The young Moroccan forward’s swagger was matched by Rangers’ commanding team performance. Danilo capitalized on a goalkeeper error to double the lead before halftime, and James Tavernier rounded off the win with a spectacular finish of his own. With a fully fit and firing trio of forwards—including Cyriel Dessers, who bagged a brace off the bench against Kilmarnock—manager Philippe Clement has plenty of attacking options at his disposal.
Clement, reflecting on the victory, expressed satisfaction with the team’s control and tactical discipline, especially considering their painful loss at Dingwall last April. “Winning here is never easy, but doing so in this way is even better,” Clement remarked. “The players are starting to understand the system more, and you can see the fluidity growing. It’s hard work, but we’re building confidence.”
While Clement acknowledged there’s more to achieve, Igamane and the resurgent Rangers side are certainly makingtheir mark.
