Leroy Fer worked for a number of clubs in the Premier League and EFL, including Swansea City and Norwich City.
The Dutchman, who also played for QPR, made his debut in the nation in 2013 after moving from FC Twente to Norwich.
The 34-year-old signed at Loftus Road after just a year with the Canaries.
He only played for the London club for two years, spending the last few months of that time on loan at Swansea before eventually signing a permanent contract there.
Before leaving English league football, Fer played for the Welsh team for three seasons. Here, we examine his subsequent career and where he has ended up.
The departure of Leroy Fer from Swansea City
After Swansea’s first season back in the second division, in which they finished 10th in the Championship standings, Fer left the team in 2019.
The midfield player proved to be a valuable member of the team, making 20 appearances in the Swans’ final Premier League season and 25 in his final year with the team.
After his time in South Wales came to an end, Fer returned to his old team, Feyenoord, before joining Alanyaspor of Turkey.
The Netherlands international made 81 league appearances during his three seasons with the Super Lig team.
During that time, Fer helped the Turks place fifth, fifteenth, and eighth in the Turkish top flight.
Even though he left Alanyaspor in the summer of 2024, his playing career has not yet come to an end.
The midfielder’s move to Al-Nasr, a team based in the United Arab Emirates, was officially announced in July.
The Dutchman, who is nearing the end of his career, decided to move outside of Europe.
Fer first broke into European football in his native Netherlands, earning a place in the Feyenoord time team squad during the 2007/08 season at the age of just 17.
