Norwich City eye free transfer move for 27-year-old

According to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon, Norwich City is considering a transfer for Haugesund custodian Egil Selvik.

Since the goalie’s contract is set to expire later this month, Norwich City is eager to make a move for him this winter. As of right now, he is scheduled to become a free agent on December 31.

Selvik, a 27-year-old Norway international, has earned four caps thus far. Since entering Haugesund in 2021, he has been on their books, and throughout the last three years, he has taken over their top rank.

According to writer Nixon’s most recent update on his Patreon, the Canaries seek to bolster their goalkeeping department by acquiring him for free in a few weeks.

The team led by Johannes Hoff Thorup is now nine points out of the playoffs in 13th position in the Championship standings.

Norwich City is looking for a stopper.

Selvik might be able to provide Norwich City’s goalkeeping unit additional depth and competitiveness.

He would compete against George Long and Angus Gunn for the Canaries’ custodian position if he moved to Carrow Road.

To date, the Sandnes native has made 120 appearances for Haugesund in all competitions.

In their most recent season, they placed 14th out of 16 clubs.

Selvik began his career with stints at Sandnes Ulf and Ganddal IL before making three appearances for the latter’s main squad as a young player.

In order to gain experience, he was also leased to Nest-Sotra.

When Odd picked him up in 2019, he stayed with them for a few years before leaving.

Now what?
Selvik would have a fresh issue to tackle if he moved to Norwich City.

This weekend, the Canaries suffered a 2-1 away loss to Sunderland.

In an attempt to get back to winning ways, they will play Millwall at home on Boxing Day. Their future rivals are looking for a new boss.
