If Rangers are to continue building momentum, Philippe Clement will be hoping that every new addition is a success. The January transfer window is usually challenging to get right.
Every part of the team requires work, but as demonstrated against Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur, the midfield still lacks possibilities for another goal-scoring box-to-box creative.
Isaac Price, a young player from Standard Liege who joined from Everton just a year ago, was linked to Rangers once more over the weekend. The Ibrox team was initially reported to be interested in the Northern Ireland international.
The Rangers’ desire to sign Isaac Price was made clear.
According to a Belgian report, there is no real interest and simply information is being gathered. Nevertheless, reputable Jupiler Pro League journalist Sacha Tovolieri, who broke the Nicolas Raskin trade, has offered an update.
Tovolieri responded to a query on X by outlining Rangers’ stance regarding a possible bid for Price:
“The Rangers have shown no interest in Isaac Price.”
Similar to when Joe Aribo travelled north to cross the border in a low-cost transfer, Price left Everton in the summer of 2023, making it the ideal opportunity to recruit the goal-scoring midfield player.
Rangers may already be priced out given his rising worldwide reputation and his prominent position in a reputable league.
In January, will the Rangers have any money to spend?
Speaking in his capacity as acting chairman, John Gilligan clarified that Clement will have the resources to fortify and that this isn’t reliant on removing bodies from the door:
“I believe the management we have is the right person to stabilise the player trading model in an effort to make it better.
“Clement will have [money] to spend in January.” If a manager of any football team can sell and turn a profit, I believe it will help with purchasing. Although it is not a requirement, it does contribute to it and aid in the entire process of improvement.
“We keep discussing the player trading model because our goal is to be able to acquire players, get them to perform well for the team, and then sell them on and reinvest.”
