After the FCSB captain’s representative proposed a move to the US, Rangers run the risk of losing out on signing Darius Olaru if they don’t pay his release clause.
Agent Giovanni Becali told Fanatik (20 December) that Olaru’s departure from FCSB is “possible” during the January transfer window because the midfield player has a £4.15 million release clause with the Romanian team.
The onus is on Philippe Clement and the Gers’ administration to complete the trade as soon as possible because Olaru’s January destination appears to be divided between Ibrox and the MLS.
“Olaru is still the same player being pursued by multiple clubs,” Becali stated. In January, we’ll see if it’s feasible; he departs for £4.15 million.
“Perhaps in America. Additionally, there is the American equivalent, which we will also visit now that Trump is president.
Rangers can advance with the addition of Darius Olaru.
Even though the Light Blues now have a large number of central midfield players on their roster, Clement’s team still needs to improve in quality if they want to catch up to Celtic.
A team that has lost £17 million in their most recent financial statements will find it difficult to pay a straight £4.15 million release clause, but signing Olaru would be a big statement for the Gers.
Despite recent boardroom changes, Clement’s summer squad revamp was primarily conducted on a sell-to-buy policy, and it appears that this will continue in January [Chris Jack, 7 December].
Olaru, who has already scored 13 goals this season, is obviously capable of making up the goalscoring deficit, but Cyriel Dessers appears to be the most likely prospect to move up after falling down the rankings.
The Gers would be greatly improved if Clement could bring in a goal-scoring midfielder like Olaru. Players like Kieran Dowell and Alex Lowry are just filling out his team.
