The transfer window will remain later than usual this winter, giving Scottish football clubs until February 3 to acquire players.
For the second half of the season, teams in the Scottish Professional Football League will be trying to bolster their rosters, and some will be trying to get rid of players who aren’t playing for the first team.
The 2025 winter transfer window will begin on January 1st, which is a week on Wednesday. However, clubs will have a little more time to do business this year, as the cutoff for deals is set for Monday, February 3rd at 11 p.m.
This is similar to how things are set up in the rest of the UK and other major leagues including France’s Ligue 1, Germany’s Bundesliga, Italy’s Serie A, and Spain’s La Liga.
There are presently no Scottish football games scheduled for February 3, and January 31 falls on a Friday the following year, preceding a busy domestic football weekend. The winter transfer window for 2024, in contrast, ended on Thursday, February 1.
According to standard procedures, teams can postpone transfers by an additional hour if they turn in specific documents and a deal sheet before the deadline of 11 p.m. on February 3.
During this year’s winter transfer window, Celtic made significant moves by acquiring Irish striker Adam Idah on loan from Norwich City and German forward Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna for over £3 million. While Hibs added a number of players, including Luke Amos, Nathan Moriah-Welsh, Elizear Mayenda, Emiliano Marcondes, and Myziane Maolida, Rangers were also active, acquiring Oscar Cortes and Mohamed Diomande on loan from Lens and FC Nordsjaelland, respectively.
