Manchester United are focused on securing top homegrown talents, but Jobe Bellingham has declined their interest for now.
Since Ineos took over, there have been consistent rumors of their intention to bring in elite domestic players. Among the names linked are Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, who impressed by outclassing Diogo Dalot in September, and Ipswich’s Liam Delap, whose performance forced Andre Onana into making exceptional saves.
Another target is Sunderland’s Jobe Bellingham, younger brother of Jude Bellingham, a player United famously missed out on. However, according to The Sun, Jobe has decided to stay at Sunderland as they push for promotion this season. The 18-year-old is focused on completing the campaign with his club, who recently strengthened their midfield by signing Enzo Le Fée. A summer move, however, seems more likely.
While Jobe’s decision isn’t a major setback for United, the club appears to have its sights set on an even brighter talent at Sunderland—Chris Rigg.
Chris Rigg: United’s Homegrown Priority
Though Jobe is highly regarded, Chris Rigg is viewed as Sunderland’s standout prospect. Often compared to Bryan Robson, the 17-year-old midfielder has been making waves in the Championship and is already a key player for the Black Cats.
Reports suggest Rigg is open to a Manchester United move, though this may not happen until summer 2025. The “mesmerizing” talent is seen as a future replacement for Christian Eriksen, potentially forming a midfield rotation with Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo under Rúben Amorim.
With Rigg’s immense potential and impressive performances, United are expected to make him a priority signing in the near future. Many believe the Sunderland-born midfielder is destined to wear the United shirt, making his acquisition a critical goal for the club.
