Since joining King Power, Ruud van Nistelrooy has had to cope with a number of injuries.
The Leicester City manager has been without players like Mads Hermansen and Wilfred Ndidi in recent weeks, which has led to the Foxes’ seven-game losing streak.
However, Abdul Fatawu has been arguably Leicester’s biggest injury miss this season.
Van Nistelrooy won’t be able to use the Ghanaian during Leicester’s survival chances because Fatawu is now sidelined with an ACL injury and will miss the remainder of the season.
However, there has been good news about Fatawu’s fitness, as the 20-year-old has been seen returning to the Leicester training facility.
Leicester supporters respond to Abdul Fatawu’s return from injury
Leicester supporters have been quick to point out that the Foxes have missed the Ghanian’s offensive flair in the last third of the season since Fatwu’s return.
One admirer said on X (previously): “We need him back asap.”
“The only positive from this club at the moment,” stated a third supporter.
“I’m glad to see him back in action,” another supporter remarked.
A fan even made a joke about how Fatawu’s workrate was higher in the video than that of some Leicester players.
Van Nistelrooy’s desire to reunite with Fatawu will be intense.
Van Nistelrooy has to sign a forward this January because he has only managed to score 23 goals in the Premier League thus far.
At home against Fulham, Leicester only managed a dismal xG of 0.47, and the Foxes’ inability to create chances—something Fatawu surely does when he’s on the field—was a major disappointment.
The fact that the 20-year-old is still among Leicester’s top creators this season in spite of injury shows that he is a continuous threat moving forward, whether it is through his dazzling pace or his dribbling.
Van Nistelrooy would undoubtedly wish he had Fatawu at his disposal during the relegation run-in since the team is currently 19th in the league and has lost seven straight games.
