Morgan Whittaker, a long-time Rangers target, is currently embroiled in a dispute with Miron Muslic, the new manager of Plymouth Argyle.
After Burnley humiliated Plymouth 5-0 at home, Austrian-Bosnian manager Muslic didn’t hold back when he scolded Morgan Whittaker.
The team is now in the bottom of the English Championship as a result, and Muslic had some harsh things to say about Whittaker when he joined the team.
Despite not being a member of the team or playing a single minute in the game, the forward has apparently been the target of rejected transfer bids.
For Plymouth, Morgan Whittaker “didn’t show up.”
According to Miron Muslic, Morgan Whittaker “didn’t show up” for the game despite being expected to be included in Plymouth Argyle’s lineup.
It’s unclear if the former Cercle Brugge boss meant that the 24-year-old wasn’t physically or psychologically present.
Whittaker has been widely linked to a move to Burnley, who, like Rangers, have long been interested in the gifted former Swansea attacker.
According to BBC Sport, Muslic stated, “Morgan didn’t show up.”
He was included in the list. He failed to show up.
He was in the selection for our game today, but he wasn’t present.
It demonstrates the mindset—or perhaps the absence of it.
“I believe that you are bound by a contract and that you always have obligations.
In addition to your responsibilities to Argyle as an organisation, you also have a duty to your teammates, thus you must always act professionally and never fail them.
Hull City and Burnley have both had their bids for the attacker rejected, according to TalkSPORT, but Whittaker’s team maintains the player suffered a “dead leg.”
A note about Morgan Whittaker’s transfer is sent by the Plymouth manager.
In January 2023, Morgan Whittaker returned to Swansea City after an initial loan at Plymouth Argyle, and Rangers’ request for the forward was rejected.
Swansea chose to hang onto the player during that transfer window, and at the end of the season, Plymouth broke their transfer record by signing Whittaker for £1 million.
Following rumours of £7 million bids and £10 million valuations, Rangers were then firmly linked to a move for Whittaker in the summer.
Wayne Rooney, the manager of Plymouth, then cautioned Rangers against pursuing Whittaker, saying that only “crazy” money would persuade the Pilgrims to sell.
After the game, Miron Muslic was questioned regarding Morgan Whittaker’s future and declined to be involved in any transfers outside of Home Park.
The manager, however, made it apparent that any player who is not dedicated to the Plymouth Argyle cause would be better off quitting the team.
When asked about Whittaker’s future, Muslic responded, “That’s not for me to say, especially right now after the game and especially in all the emotions.”
However, we require guys that are genuinely interested in playing for Argyle. That is the most crucial thing.
And they’re in the wrong place if they refuse to play.
“I hope the message is clear.”
