The New York Jets have bolstered their coaching staff by adding former Atlanta Falcons assistant Charles London as their new quarterbacks coach.
This move continues a series of offseason connections between the Falcons and Jets. Earlier, the Falcons appointed former Jets defensive coordinator and interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich to oversee their defense, while New York brought in Steve Wilks, who had previously interviewed for roles in Atlanta, as their new defensive coordinator. Now, Charles London becomes the latest link between the two teams.
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Jets are set to hire the 50-year-old London, who most recently served as the Seattle Seahawks’ quarterbacks coach. Prior to that, he coached quarterbacks for the Falcons from 2021 to 2022 and held the same role with the Tennessee Titans in 2023.
A former Duke University running back (1994–96), London began his coaching career at his alma mater in 2004. He later joined the Chicago Bears as an offensive assistant (2007–09) before brief stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans. In 2012, he transitioned back to college football to coach running backs at Penn State for two seasons before returning to the NFL as the Houston Texans’ running backs coach (2014–17). He then rejoined the Bears to coach running backs from 2018 to 2020.
London was one of Arthur Smith’s first hires when Smith became the Falcons’ head coach in 2021. During his tenure in Atlanta, he worked with quarterbacks Matt Ryan, Marcus Mariota, and Desmond Ridder. After a season with the Titans as quarterbacks coach and pass game coordinator in 2023, London moved on to the Seahawks before now landing with the Jets.
As he steps into his new role, London faces one of the NFL’s most intriguing quarterback dynamics—centered around the future of Aaron Rodgers. His expertise will likely play a crucial role in navigating the challenges ahead.
