In order to finalize a one-year agreement with the Brisbane Broncos, Adam Reynolds reportedly turned down a contract offer from the Wests Tigers, forgoing $1 million in order to remain faithful. The Broncos halfback and captain recently turned down a two-year, $1.5 million offer from the Tigers, according to a report from CODE Sports on Saturday night. He plans to remain in Brisbane, where he has lived with his family since 2022.

He would sign a deal worth roughly $500,000 for a season in which he turns 36, but it would be contingent on the inclusion of post-playing employment options. Given Reynolds’ age and the Broncos’ wage cap predicament, they would only consider a one-year contract. According to reports earlier this season, the Broncos might only be able to provide $300,000. His deal for this season is supposedly worth roughly $550,000, and he has avoided a dramatic drop.
Reynolds is still one of the best kickers and game managers in the NRL, and if he is retained, he will continue to play in the Brisbane halves alongside controversial player Ezra Mam and fellow veteran Ben Hunt. Coby Black, the Broncos’ hailed playmaking prospect, is still learning the ropes in Queensland Cup footy.

If Reynolds had joined the Tigers, he would have paired with NSW Origin star Jarome Luai, with Latu Fainu as the team’s long-term possibility at No. 7. “Brisbanesh is where Adam wants to end his career,” his agent Steve Gillis stated. “That is what we are aiming for because his family has made their home there.”
With a rough 6-7 start under new coach Michael Maguire, Brisbane is currently eighth on the leaderboard as of Sunday. They have a bye this weekend. Although Reynolds’ greatest NRL moment occurred when he won a premiership with South Sydney in 2014 under Maguire, the team has been plagued by allegations that the coach’s strict methods have caused strained relationships with players. Within the next week, the Broncos were expected to announce a contract extension for gun center Kotoni Staggs, according to CODE.

The biggest unknown on their squad is still Selwyn Cobbo, a fellow flyer who is off contract, was cut last week, and might make more money at other clubs. Champion prop Payne Haas is also considering his options even though he would love to continue in Brisbane.
