GREAT NEWS: The Brisbane Broncos have Announced the signing of a Talented forward Despite The Huge Offer…see more

For 2025, the Broncos have increased the depth of their forwards. PRYDE SCOTT Ben Talty, a forward, has been released by the North Sydney Bears to sign a full-time playing contract with the Brisbane Broncos.

With the exception of the postponed 2020 season, the forward has played at that level six times in the last seven years since making his debut in the NSW Cup in 2019 with the Newcastle Knights. Despite this, the now-seasoned reserve grade has only participated in three preseason games and has yet to make his NRL debut.

Talty joined the Bears in Round 14 of the 2023 season after spending time in and out of the reserve grade squad with the Newcastle Knights. Since then, he has hardly missed a game. In order to pursue a chance with the Broncos, the Bears announced on social media that they were cutting the versatile forward. “Ben Talty has been offered a full-time deal with the Brisbane Broncos, and the club confirms his immediate release.

Since joining the Bears on rnd 14, 2023, Talty has played a significant role in our KOE NSW Cup squad. The Bears confirmed the news on X (previously Twitter) with the message, “We wish Ben well in his NRL journey.”

At this point, it’s unclear if the contract is a development or Top 30 agreement, but if the Broncos’ forwards continue to struggle with injuries or form, Michael Maguire may make his debut this season. Talty can line up anywhere in the forward pack because he has played all prop, second-row, and lock at reserve grade level. Over the past two or so years, he has been one of the Bears’ top players.

He was never given a chance to play for Melbourne at the first-grade level, despite being a member of the Melbourne Storm system. He will now try to make it happen in the capital of Queensland.
