TNT Sports Keeps Fan-Favorite Announcers for NASCAR’s Mid-Season Broadcast Shift
NASCAR fans tuning in to this weekend’s Quaker State 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway can expect a familiar sound in the broadcast booth, as TNT Sports has confirmed it will retain the same announcing crew that recently worked under Amazon Prime Video. This announcement comes as part of NASCAR’s new seven-year, $7.7 billion media rights agreement, which features four broadcast partners: Fox, NBC, Amazon Prime Video, and TNT Sports. As part of this rotation, TNT takes over coverage duties following the conclusion of Amazon’s five-race slate.
TNT’s return to NASCAR broadcasting marks the network’s reentry into the sport for the first time since 2014. The network will be responsible for the entire five-race in-season tournament that begins at Atlanta and continues through Chicago, Sonoma, Dover, and Indianapolis throughout July. Despite the network shift, viewers won’t see any changes in the booth—something that’s already generating positive buzz among longtime fans.
Leading the coverage is Adam Alexander, who will be joined by NASCAR legends Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Steve Letarte. Both served as commentators for Amazon’s portion of the Cup Series and were widely praised for their chemistry and insights. Dale Jr., notably, returned to broadcasting in 2025 after stepping away in 2024. Letarte, a familiar voice to fans since his transition from crew chief to analyst in 2015, continues his dual role with NBC and TNT during this portion of the schedule.
TNT’s decision to stick with the Amazon broadcast trio reflects a strategic choice to maintain consistency and capitalize on the positive reception the group earned earlier in the season. Fans had lauded the dynamic between Alexander, Earnhardt Jr., and Letarte, highlighting their engaging storytelling and deep racing knowledge. By keeping the booth intact, TNT aims to ensure a smooth and seamless viewer experience during this pivotal part of the season.
Looking ahead, the commentary team will change once the broadcast rights shift to NBC beginning with the Iowa Speedway race on August 3. At that point, Leigh Diffey will take over lead announcing duties, alongside returning analysts Letarte and Jeff Burton. For now, fans can settle in for a strong stretch of coverage as NASCAR enters an exciting mid-season phase—with the added bonus of a broadcast team that already feels like a perfect fit.
