Early Tottenham Hotspur vs Brentford injury news with seven out and two doubts

Tottenham will host Brentford at N17 on Saturday in what promises to be another London match.

This weekend, Tottenham Hotspur will compete in another London derby—this time, it will be against Brentford, led by Thomas Frank—in the Premier League. The game is played just a few days after Spurs’ dramatic victory against Coventry City in the EFL Cup, where goals from Brennan Johnson and Djed Spence in the 88th and 90th minutes, respectively, guaranteed Spurs’ advancement to the following round.

Ange Postecoglou has already faced criticism this week for implying that the Lilywhites’ supporters should expect hardware at the conclusion of the season, despite their early-season troubles. Although their thrilling triumph over Coventry City in the final seconds won’t have eased tensions much, the Australian head coach will aim to build on the team’s recent cup success by defeating the injured Bees this coming Saturday.

Postecoglou will want to rotate his stars as much as possible because both teams have Europa League matches to play within the next week. However, the following players from both camps will not be available for this weekend’s Premier League match:

Brentford

Josh Dasilva has left.

Dasilva, a midfielder, is still recovering from knee surgery that was done in February. It’s unlikely that he’ll return until late November.

Yoane Wissa is not available.
The most recent injury is to 28-year-old Wissa, who Thomas Frank confirmed will miss a “couple of months” due to an ankle injury sustained against Manchester City. “Unfortunately not good news – it looks like an injury that will be a couple of months,” Frank told the media about his forward. It’s really annoying.

 Gustavo Gomez- OUT

Gomez will be sidelined until at least mid-October due to a slight stress fracture to his back. Before Brentford’s matchup with Man City, Frank stated of Gustavo: “I think he’s a player who can help us soon; he’s almost ready.” Although he has a small stress fracture in his back, it is not a major problem. He won’t be able to spend several weeks on the bench.

Mathias Jensen- OUT

Jensen’s minor calf injury prevented him from playing in the Bees’ match against Man City. Frank stated that the centre midfielder’s return to play should only take a few weeks.

Rico Henry – QUESTION

Rico Henry has been sidelined for a year due to a mild musculoskeletal injury. It is anticipated that he will return in the upcoming few days of play. Frank stated last week that the left-back is still on course despite having a very small muscular issue. He is anticipated to be on the pitch tomorrow. Although it’s a setback, it’s not truly one as it has nothing to do with his knee.

Aaron Hickey has been removed.

The Scottish international is still out and there’s no indication of when he might return. After his initial thigh injury, he most recently had a procedure where the old repair sutures were taken out and a fresh tendon repair was made.

Igor Thiago is no longer with us.

The meniscus injury that the Brazilian striker has successfully operated on will prevent him from playing until at least “late 2024.”

Richarlison: Not in

The Brazilian striker sustained an injury during warm-ups for Spurs’ most recent 2-1 loss to Newcastle. Head coach Postecoglou stated, “He’s in rehab and we are going to take it a big conservative with him,” indicating that a return is not anticipated until at least the end of the month.

Yves Bissouma: Uncertainty

The Australian head coach stated last week, prior to the North London derby: “I’ll assume he’ll be right for after that if he doesn’t make Sunday.” While serving for Mali on international service, Bissouma tweaked his groin.

The midfielder’s EFL match against Coventry was revealed to be too soon by recent reports, but “hopefully, there is a chance that he will be okay for the weekend.”

Wilson Odobert: Uncertainty

Halfway through the first half of the match against Coventry, Odobert was substituted off the pitch; the severity of his injury is still unknown. Postecoglou stated following the game, “I’m not really sure.” The way things are going for us—we’re getting multiple injuries in the same position—both of them appear to be muscular ailments.

“We’ll check in on them. I believe that Wilson’s appears to be a noteworthy one.

Timo Werner – Uncertainty

The Australian head coach continued his remarks about Odobert by saying, “We’ll see how Timo is.” The German international was substituted off late in the game, which was his first start since April.
