Jefte ‘superb’ as Rangers star wows with what he did in win v Dundee at Ibrox

After Jefte’s “superb” performance for Rangers in their victory over Dundee, David Edgar was left in awe of the defender.

With a brace from Cyriel Dessers and a second-half penalty from James Tavernier, Philippe Clement’s team won 3-0 in the Scottish League Cup on Saturday, September 21, to celebrate their return to Ibrox.

The majority of supporters showered the Nigerian striker with plaudits for his goal-scoring exploits, but Heart and Hand host Clifford was astounded by Jefte’s effort and performance in the build-up to the third goal.

On Saturday, September 21, he wrote on X, saying, “Cracking third for Rangers! The outstanding Jefte stumbles in Bajrami.

“Amazing first-time pass and a strong finish from Dessers.”

What was the cost of Jefte’s transfer to the Rangers?

Due to the other business that Clement’s side performed, the signing of Jefte this summer almost went unnoticed, but it has turned out to be one of the better deals the Gers have made.

With the exception of one of the most egregious red cards in history during the Champions League qualifying match against Dynamo Kyiv, he has performed admirably at left back for the Light Blues, bringing a fresh perspective to both attack and defence.

His performance at Ibrox on Saturday demonstrated his potential influence while in possession. The Gers now have a little more balance and are less dependent on James Tavernier thanks to his presence on the left wing.

Still, when Ridvan Yilmaz eventually makes a full recovery from his injury, Clement will have a crucial choice to make.

Given that Jefte has practically undroppable, the manager of the Gers will need to try and find a method to fit both players into one lineup.

With any luck, the Brazilian will keep getting better till the end of the campaign. Rangers appear to have a genuine talent on their hands, and it is now their responsibility to make sure they get the most potential from him.
