Cyriel Dessers undroppable despite dislike among Rangers fans and calls for Hamza Igamane

Marvin Bartley says that Cyriel Dessers must start for the Rangers and cannot be replaced by Hamza Igamane.

After the Light Blues striker scored twice in a 3-0 victory over Dundee to advance his team to the League Cup semifinal, the BBC Sport analyst responded via X on September 21. He insisted that he ought to be among the first players on Philippe Clement’s team sheet.

After scoring 22 goals the previous season, the goals were the Nigerian’s sixth and seventh of the current campaign. Bartley has dismissed suggestions that Dessers be benched even though summer signing Igamane is currently playing for the first team.

“Dessers doing what he does,” he wrote. Express your opinions regarding the things he doesn’t do! With him, the Rangers are a far better team. ACTUALITY!!!

He retorted, “People want him benched NOW!!!!” to a supporter. Right now, you don’t have better. He must start for you with your present team, even though there are undoubtedly better options out there.

And to a second: “What is the Igamanes scoring record? When Dessers scores goals, I don’t see why people despise him! Trying to argue that he should be replaced by an unproven person.

Rangers forward pays Dundee’s Philippe Clement back at Ibrox

In the weeks leading up to the Old Firm derby at Celtic on September 1, Igamane’s level was unknown and he was completely uninvolved on match days. However, his tardy entry has showed some extremely encouraging signals [PLZ Soccer, 16 September].

The young Moroccan may soon have more possibilities if he keeps growing in the same direction, but Dessers’ influence will never be overlooked.

The 29-year-old’s record in Glasgow has drawn some justified criticism, but there are several colleagues who need more consideration, and Dessers is powerless to stop the squad from failing to attract better competitors.

Over the past year, he has likely played closer to his peak than most of the Rangers team, but there are still concerns that his best isn’t good enough to be a regular number one forward at Ibrox.

Igamane has made suggestions that he would be better suited to play as the starting custodian, but as things stand right now, that isn’t confirmed, and when Dessers is scoring goals, Clement might be hesitant to remove him from the starting lineup.

If Igamane did establish himself as this team’s top striker, it might actually be to Dessers’ advantage because significant performance from another goal scorer would relieve pressure on the elder guy and put his contribution in perspective.

If his 29 goals since signing two summers ago are not all that Clement and the Gers are depending on up front, then his situation will appear much more beneficial.

A player who has demonstrated that he can score goals against most teams has a place in this team, provided that someone else steps up to take the pitch for the most important matches.

Although playing a fairly similar job, Antonio Colak is generally regarded highly. However, he was fired too soon, even if Michael Beale did not prefer him over Alfredo Morelos.

Should Igamane show himself to be the man for the big moments, that would be a major boost and might even help Dessers flourish in a supporting role within the team.
