Hamza Igamane to develop into top drawer striker amid delight at Rangers career start

Derek Ferguson is thrilled with the early-career performance of Hamza Igamane with the Rangers.

The Moroccan was bought by the Light Blues from AS FAR in the summer, but he wasn’t even named in the team for the first game of the season until the Old Firm derby loss to Celtic on September 1.

In his three substitute appearances thus far, he has indicated that the club’s decision to spend money on an injured young player was justified, and Ferguson thinks Philippe Clement may have something unique on his hands.

Ah, love him, he exclusively told Ibrox News. Even though it has only been temporary, it is now evident why we acquired a young player who was hurt when he first joined the team.

“To be honest with you, I think he’s going to be top drawer if we can work with him over the next two or three years.”

From the looks of it, he’s a dynamic player with a few tricks up his sleeve. He definitely fits into the group of players who will thrill you, which is what you want to see in a football player.

With the signing of the Rangers striker, Philippe Clement hits gold?

Considering how difficult the Gers’ transfer window seemed to be without new senior competition for regular starter Cyriel Dessers up front, Igamane might prove to be a case study in letting plans to play out in football.

Even though the 21-year-old is still very early in his Rangers career, it is gradually becoming clear how wise it was for Clement to trade for him when there was a player who might have made an immediate impact with that money.

With Danilo’s injury problems far from resolved [Rangers Review, 5 September], Dessers has filled in brilliantly for the most part. His double against Dundee on September 21 brought his total for the season to seven goals.

Though, understandably, not everyone is ready to write him off just yet [Marvin Bartley, 21 September], he may have some real competition on his hands despite the relative lack of experience his new partner has [PLZ Soccer, 16 September].
